Introduction to Pack Rafting & Moving water
Level 1 & 2
Saturday Class - Level 1
Class starts at New Wave Office at 10AM. We will talk about gear, boats, and paddle strokes! We then will head to Otto lake. We will spend around 3 hours at Otto lake and then have another group discussion where we talk about hydrology, river safety, and plan for the next day.
Sunday Class Level 2
Meet at New Wave Office @ 7AM for gear check, and hydrology review. 7:30AM We will be headed to mile 120 of the Denali Highway (approx.15 miles down from Cantwell) to the boat launch. 9:00AM blow up, gear check and boat the upper Nenana River to Cantwell bridge number 1 which is approximately 15 miles. 3:30 pickup at bridge #1 in Cantwell. 4:30 office talk, gear return and high fives!

Trip Times & Dates: 10:00 AM Weekends June 8-9, July, 6-7 & August 3-4
Trip Duration: Saturday 3.5 hours & Sunday class 8- 9 hours

Pack Raft: $40 day ($80 full course)
Drysuit: $30 day ($60 full course)
Paddle: $5 day ($10 full course)
PFD: $5 day ($10 full course)
Whitewater Helmet: $5 day ($10 full course)
Everything: (boat, drysuit, paddle, PFD, helmet for L1/2): $50 day or $100 full course

Nenana river ADVANCED Pack rafting
Whitewater water essentials Level 3
Trip begins at New Wave Office at 9am. Instructor will choose between three different river sections in the Denali area. This class will be focusing on safety, self & group rescue, paddle strokes, and boat control. Rivers and sections are water level dependent. Must have completed an accredited level 1 & 2 course somewhere in the state. Trip is designed for pack rafters with experience.

Trip Duration: 8 hours

Drysuit: $30 day ($60 full course)
Paddle: $5 day ($10 full course)

PackRaft - Appropriate base layers -Drysuit - Paddle under 210CM
White water helmet- Tennis shoes/river booties (nothing open toe)
PFD minimum 15.5lbs of flotation with whistle - Dry bag for personal gear storage
Water bottle - a snacks and or lunch available for purchase at store.
Pogies or gloves & Throw rope (Recommended)

Level 3: Advanced Whitewater & Safety Skills
A COLLABORATIVE ADVENTURE WITH ALASKA PACKRAFT SCHOOL
Overview
Minimum: 8 people maximum
Trip Times & Dates: August 8th - 10th
Trip Duration: Friday Evening: 5pm to 8pm-9pm, Saturday & Sunday: 9am-5pm
PREREQUISITES: Level 2 course, swiftwater rescue training, or mastery of level 2 curriculum (from personal experience or other courses/training)
This course is for those with previous whitewater packrafting experience wanting to strengthen paddle skills & boat control in class III whitewater. Participants must be skilled/proficient with self rescue, river safety and have prior experience reading and paddling up to class III whitewater with adequate boat control. This course is geared towards the aspiring class IV boater, or those seeking to refine & build their whitewater paddling technique & rescue skills.
